I've got a confession to make. As much as I love the designer frames we get our hands on through Retrospecced (and we do have some incredible frames to upcycle!), it's the retro ones that really have my heart. I just can't help day-dreaming about who had them the first time round. What were they like? Where did they wear them, perhaps on a first date, or to a big interview? Did they make their previous owner feel super confident when they had them on, or were they a barrier against the world?

Take this pair for example. I reckon they were owned by a lady called Edwina. Big, bold frames for a sassy lady. I reckon she almost certainly* wore these when she got the first hole in one at her local golf club in the whole of the 1970s decade. Dressed in yellow golf trousers with a matching visor (sassy, I told you) she astonished all the men with her golfing prowess. YES EDWINA, YOU SHOW THOSE FUSTY GOLF CLUB MEN HOW TO DO IT🏌🏼! (Note there's only a male golfer emoji on my Android phone...there's still a long way to go). Isn't it fantastic?! When we buy upcycled / retro / vintage / repurposed / however you want to call it, items, we're helping save things from landfill for sure - but we also get a small slice of someone's personal history. There's a story to these items. For me, that's just wonderful - I love it. If you fancy checking out Edwina's glasses, follow the link below or in our bio. Have a peep and trawl through the retro tab on our website, let your mind wander and see who's stories you find! Or come and find us in person at the Lou Lou's vintage fair in Oxford on 10th March, or in Bristol on 17th April- we'd love to meet you!
