Seeing the blackboard - Adams Mambwe
The following story is of Adams, a boy helped by Vision Aid Overseas recently in Zambia. Eleven year old Adams needed glasses to see properly. Before Adams was seen by Vision Aid Overseas, he was struggling at school because he couldn’t see the blackboard well enough to learn. After his eyes were tested at our Vision Centre in Livingstone, Adam was prescribed a smart new pair of reading glasses that restored his vision. It cost Vision Aid Overseas just £5 to provide Adams with an eye examination and a pair of reading glasses. Adams is now back at school, improving his grades and his parents are proud of him. He wants to be a policeman when he’s older so that he can support his family and keep people in his community safe. “I can now see to learn” 1 in 10 people around the world need glasses to see properly. Vision Aid Overseas exists so that children in Africa who can't see can learn and get an education and adults who can't see can earn to support their families. Without clear vision children can’t learn to get an education and adults can’t earn to care for their families and contribute to their communities. However, you can make all the difference today by making a donation.
